He awakes early
in the morning, but later then usual because he can already see other slaves
walking to the market from the room that his master gives him. He quickly
rushes out of his master’s magnificent two story stone house to which he sees
the Tiber River. He then continues on his journey to the market to purchase the
goods for the day.
He
steadily makes his way down the gradual slope of the Palatine hill where he
encounters other fellow slaves going to purchase items for their masters’
dwelling. As he moves closer down the hill to the Forum he stops and notices
the round, white, marble Temple of Vesta that resides to his left and is amazed
by the superior craftsmanship of the temple. His favorite aspects of the temple
are the stunning white columns that hold this temple together. He then realizes
that he is wasting valuable time admiring this temple and must continue on to
the market before the best goods are gone. As he leaves to the market he can also
see the Regia to his right. Further in to the Forum he notices some people at
the Basilica Aemilia having a heated discussion, however he realizes he cannot
stop to listens since he is falling behind schedule. He picks up his pace and
continues on to the market as not to be left with the worst of the goods, which
would not please his master.
