It was a sunny day when Augustus decided to take a walk down to the market from his home atop Palatine Hill. Along his way he met his friend Luscius. After exchanging proper greetings and sharing stories of last night’s happenings, they both continued on their outing. Augustus suggests a scenic route and tells Luscius he’d prefer to take their walk over the Pons Aemilius. Luscius agrees and explains that he liked the feeling of the stone bridge under his feet. As they walk, the two friends make a game of spotting their favorite monuments. Luscius points out the old harbor area. Augustus comments that he likes the Porticus Aemilia better for its newer look. He went further to say that he liked the concrete structure and barrel vaulted roof. As they continued, Augustus mentioned that he was hoping that the stores at the Horrea would be safe because he had been stolen from before. Finally almost to the Forum Boarium, Luscius asks Augustus what his favorite temple is. Augustus replies that he enjoys both the Greek style round temple and the temples of Fortuna and Mater Matuta because of the tall pillars each has. The two friends realize their journey has come to an end. They then thank each other for their company and agree to part ways to take care of their respective business.
