As the sun began to rise in the cool Mediterranean climate he sensed the urgency that was expected of a slave. He set out from the rear of the great stone house, careful as to not wake his masters. He begins the trek westward, down the Palentine hill towards the Tiber river. As he passes over the cloaca maxima the stench overwhelms him and he turns north east into the great Forum Boarium. Here, along with many Greeks from the south stop and admire the round temple, He takes in its beautiful Greek style of architecture and he feels that one day, if freed, he would like to visit Greece. The thought quickly escapes him as he realizes he must get to the cattle market and return to the top of the hill. He arrives at the Forum Romanum and spots a vendor he frequents. He quickly hands the recognizable merchant a few coins and in return is handed a sausage based porcus. His exit must be faster than his entrance so he decided to head east. He passes the Arcus Agusti on his right, then splits through the Vesta Aedes and the Regia, quickly noting the cultural significance and physical beauty. Before long he is back in the stone house, wondering what goes on outside the walls or Rome.-Andrew Miller
