Assignment 3-Chris Olive-Jones

As long as he can remember Cassius has always wanted to join the prestigious Roman Army. This has always been his dream, to leave the Palatine Hill and fight for Rome. The only thing standing in his way was his mother and father. They wanted Cassius to stay home and learn from his father. His family was part of the wealthy class and his father was one of the Roman Senators. They wanted Cassius to stay and watch over the land and slaves that his father, a former senator, owns. However Cassius wants nothing to do with his, he doesn’t want to be stuck here tending to the land for his mother and father, he wants to be out exploring the world fighting for his home and the people he cares about.
The main thing Cassius feared the most was telling his parents his decision that he will join the army and not follow the plans that his father has set forth for him. He did not know exactly how they would react, he believes his mother would most likely be come emotional and pleads with him not to leave and that his father may become irate at the idea that he would join the army and fight for Julius Caesar especially since his father does not like Julius Caesar and the way he leads. The one other thing that makes Cassius hesitant to leave and join the army is his feelings for a girl, named Camilla, who is the daughter of a freed slave. However, Cassius has decided that he has made the decision to leave and join the army so it is time to tell his parents and Camilla of his decision regardless of the outcome. Cassius knows that his parents may become extremely angry with him but he knows this is what he must do. He must find a way to tell his parents and Camilla of his decision the best way possible.
