The Roman Plot


The Roman Plot
It’s about 45 BC and the Roman romance has just begun to rise.  In the vast growing city on Rome, Italy the young and beautiful Aeliana is stuck in what seems to be the most terrible love situation ever.  Being born into an equestrian family, she is of wealthy statue and expected to maintain her position in society n become all she can be.  Her father, Nero is one of the most respected men in the city and has worked hard to keep his large family safe and well off and he expects his daughter to marry the best man there is.  When his old friend Cicero informs him that his fellow college, Senator Lucius has a special interest in his gorgeous daughter he is ecstatic.  Aeliana knows much about the smart and powerful Lucius and although she tries to attain the same feelings for him, her heart is somewhere else.  Aeliana has always been in love with the family’s most prized slave, Maximus.  Maximus is Nero’s favorite slave; he is extremely strong, responsible, respectful as well as caring.  Maximus not only takes pride in all the work and slavery in his life but has a deep love for Aeliana as well.  They have kept their feelings quite for many years and although it would never be accepted by her father, she cannot help but to love him and reject Lucius.  When both Nero finds out about this “fling” he is beyond devastated, wanting the best possible future for his bright and talented daughter, he threatens to suspend the pending freedom of Maximus if she doesn’t choose Lucius.  Maximus, being the polite and caring man he is tells Aeliana to respect her father’s wishes and be with Lucius because he cannot provide for her as a slave (although he really lovers her and doesn’t want to say goodbye).  Aeliana is stuck between eternal happiness with the love of her life and the expected marriage that her father desires for her.  What will Aeliana do when both of her choices have such contrasting and life changing consequences? Who will help her decide and what will happen throughout this time to influence her heart?
