Assignment #3
As the Roman army is off fighting a
war against Pompey’s, many citizens await to see if the war had been successful
or not. Some wait and hope to see their loved ones to come back home to their
families while some unknowingly will hear bad news of their loved ones dying in
battle. Acestes and his mother await the return of his father, Aelius. Aelius,
one of the greatest commanders Roma had ever seen became one of Caesar’s
favorite. He was with Caesar through most of the battles Caesar took Rome into,
like the time they defeated the Pompeians in Africa on 46 BCE.
One morning while Acestes dreamed
of the day he would see his father again, he was woke up by the noise coming
from the streets. He is confused of why there was so much screaming and
yelling. One of the thoughts that came to his mind was if someone was attacking
the city of Rome. He was confused and did not know what to do or where to go.
He begins to panic and begins to cry out for his mother. His mother is awaken
by Acestes cry and quickly hurries to Acestes’ aid to make sure he was ok and
not hurt. As she contemplates her son, everyone else is awakened and makes
their way to the courtyard with confused expressions on their faces. Together,
they all make their way out side and are surprised by what they see. From their
master’s palace located at the Palatine hill, they can over look the Roman
Forum and are shocked to see what was happening down bellow. Acestes was
confused and was wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him. Was it just
a dream or was this really happening? To his surprise someone would soon visit
Acestes and the entire palace to answer all his questions.
