HW 3

Plot Summary
This story will take place during the civil war and it will be about the strain that war puts on a people. The story will follow both a husband and wife that have been separated by his need to severe the cause and her commitments at home. The story will be told from each of their perspectives and will take place both in Rome and in a battle area. The story begins with a seemingly calm couple going about their daily tasks and routines. They walk to the Forum to do some shopping when they over hear an orator talking of the escalation of the civil war. The wife doesn’t understand how this conflict has escalated to the point of war; couldn’t there be other options to find a resolution? The husband is deeply moved by the struggle and is fighting the urge to go fight. He knows that his wife doesn’t want him to leave but he doesn’t think that he can keep resisting the need to fight. They return home and begin arguing about these issues. The husband decides to go to war and the wife reluctantly gives in to his wishes. As he goes through the motions of being a soldier and she adjusts to life as without her husband they find their views changing. He sees the horrors of war and she sees the in ability of the senate to settle anything. She begins to see the need for escalated conflict and he sees how devastating war can be. Will they ever see eye to eye on the issues? If they cannot will they be able to finally understand each other?
