Daniel Barlam assignment 7

Realizing he was late to rejoin his patron Tiberius’ entourage, Marcus hurried back from the market. On his way back all he could think about was Julia. Marcus knew it was fate that he had met her that day by the fruit stand. She was so beautiful. All he could do was pray that he would see her again soon. Finally able to control his thoughts, Marcus focused his attention on getting back before Tiberius noticed he was gone. Arriving with merely moments to spare, Marcus rejoined the entourage and acted aloof as Tiberius came out from his court proceedings and political work. Tiberius informed the group that the next stop would be a special treat. Their next destination was the Circus Maximus.
Today happened to be April 25th, which meant it was the Robigalia. As the group walked, Tiberius talked of the Ludi Corsuribus. He claimed to like the senior class best because of their use of the four horsed quadriga. However, Marcus was always partial to the junior class’ two horsed bigae. The group’s excitement grew as they approached the Ager Romanus and saw the beginnings of the Pompa Circensis.  They hurried along, entered the Circus Maximus and quickly found their seats.  While waiting for the festivities to begin, Marcus thought to himself about the sacrifices made for the festival. Since he was an animal lover, he had never liked that the entrails of a dog were used as a sacrifice. He did, however, understand its importance in keeping disease away from the crops and keeping Robigus happy.
As the races were beginning, Marcus caught a glimpse of Julia. He could not contain his excitement or deny that fate was bringing them together again. Tiberius noticed his change in demeanor and asked what was going on. After Marcus explained, Tiberius encouraged him to make the approach. Still in disbelief, Marcus prepared himself to once again meet this beautiful creature.  He only hoped that he could make her see him in the way that he saw her..
