Decimus awoke to hear the crowds filing through the streets going to the Circus Maximus as the festivals were going to begin soon. Decimus had always loved joining in the festivities since he was a child and his father had taken his father every year to celebrate the gods and enjoy the show. Julia, Decimus’ wife had been up for awhile getting the servants organized and breakfast prepared as she knew Decimus would want to get an early start on the day. Julia’s father, a senator, would be at the festival as would most other high ranking officials as this years celebrations were supposed to be better than ever.
Once Decimus dressed, he met Julia for breakfast and quickly proceeded to take a full count to make sure all was in order before he took off for the day. Decimus’ head slave, whom he had been skeptical of recently but had since dismissed such notions, was to be head of the household as Decimus had planned to be out all day. After completing a quick run through, Decimus and Julia headed out to the Circus Maximus hoping to catch the opening parade and the first act of plays.
After watching the plays and speaking with other wealthy citizens who were in attendance at the stage, Decimus and Julia decided to head to horse races and sword fights. These had always been his favorite part since his childhood as the action and violence never seemed to get old for him as well as the roaring crowds in attendance. After a full day at the festivals, Decimus and Julia headed over to where her father was dining with other senators in attendance as they were his guests and enjoyed fine food and wine and discussed the brilliance of what they had watched that day.
