Assignment #8

It had been months since Cleopatra had heard of Caesars whereabouts since he left to fight the war against Pompeii. As people awaited to hear back from their loved ones who were off fighting the war, the Roman citizens continued with their everyday lives such as going to the amphitheater/arenas to watch plays and gladiatorial fights. Cleopatra being such a fan of such activities, spent most of her time watching plays and fights to distract her mind for at least a few hours and not think about negative thoughts concerning Caesar.
One morning at the break of dawn, while the city of Rome was still asleep, people are suddenly awakened by a far-off noise being heard. The citizens are forced to get up from their beds and go outside to figure out what was all the noise about and where was it coming from. As the citizens rushed out to the streets they began to see roman soldiers marching in towards the city. People were confused ad did not know what was happening, Since the soldiers were still a distance away, Roman citizens could not identify if the soldiers were Romans or not. With the uncertainty on their mind, people began to panic and thought that they could be Pompeians who had defeated Caesar in battle. As the soldiers got closer, people began to realize they were Roman soldiers and knew that only meant one thing; the war against Pompeii was finally over. All the citizens yelled in excitement and joy as they knew their king had finally acquired victory and this meant soldiers would be back with their families, including the king.
The next morning the king had declared that day to be a day of celebration for his victory over Pompeii. Shows were held for the public to enjoy and Caesar held private gladiator fights for his closest friends and his wife. The years went by and Rome experiences years of peace and prosperity.
