Regina Alvarado Assignment 7

Regina Alvarado
Assignment 7

Tullia, Claudia’s nurse and caretaker was a pantomime performer who performed at a venue in the forum. Claudia and her family had front row seating at the shows. These theatrical outings were occurred whenever Tullia had a show and Claudia’s loving father was always happy to oblige. He was actually happy to take the family out for outings quite often.
The family would attend circuses. They’d get up early to watch the circus procession that was led by a magistrate, who was followed by his men on horseback and accompanied by numerous musicians. Then there were the competitors in the procession who would then go on to compete in either horse races, trick riding, or chariot races. These competitors that made up the imperial teams were so immaculately dressed and were such mesmerizing figures. They took pride in being the emperor’s best riders atop the best horses. Claudia’s father was once a competitor in these games and was a fine horseman in his day. He actually had quite a way with horses because of his kind and gentle nature. It was a kindness and gentleness that he passed onto Claudia, who was kind to every one of Earth’s creatures.
In addition to the circuses, the family would also attend plays. Claudia thoroughly enjoyed plays and she was already quite old by the time she figured out that all the actors behind the masks were men. It astonished her because her favorite genre, comedy, often ended in over-the-top wedding celebrations. She had never realized that all that time she had thought she was watching a woman, she was in fact watching a stage full of men. Aside from the acting Claudia really appreciated the music accompaniment to each of the plays. Plus she was in complete awe of the writing which could be written so poetically, but could she make her laugh genuinely. Claudia enjoyed herself whenever she went out with her family to public events.
