Assign 7- The Circus

Entertainment-Assign 7
It was just another day for Clodia and her family on the master’s property. Clodia finished her chores around the master’s house and her father Lucius and her two younger brothers finished their chores around the property outside.  When everyone finished their chores, it was Clodia as the only woman in the household of her father and brothers to make lunch and dinner. Clodia did not mind this one bit. She loved her family very much and enjoyed taking care of them in any way she could. As Clodia was preparing lunch, she could hear her master and other men moving his possessions on a carriage. Clodia began to feel very anxious, she knew that her freedom was soon to come.
After lunch, Clodia and her family continued on completing their chores. It was then that another fellow slave announced in a private matter that a circus performance was to occur today. Slaves were unable to attend any type of entertainment event for leisure. Therefore, slaves had to wait until their master had left the house to attend the games and then they begin to venture down to attend the celebrations. Clodia and her brothers had never attended the games before because their father did not allow them to.  However, today Lucius had to make a trip into town to retrieve items the master demanded and Clodia saw this as an opportunity. As soon as Lucius left the house, Clodia explained her idea to her brothers. They all agreed to attend the circus.
The Circus Maximus was full when they arrived, but in enough time to watch the pompa, a music procession that occurred before the chariot races.  Clodia and her brothers were overwhelmed with all the chaos that happening around them but they have never felt more excited.  Clodia and her brothers watched events of the armed dancers and satyrs in awe but the best was yet to come.  The chariot race was Clodia and brothers favorite event. The excitement it brought to everyone in the amphitheater was adrenaline pinching.  The sound of the cracking of the whip and the galloping of the horses excited Clodia.  She had never felt so free before.
