Kristen Pawloski
character introductions

Julia, a recent bride, had long brown silky hair and deep green eyes. Although her husband had control over her actions she was still a confident women, and took pride in the fact that she still had an inner voice. Her husband, Manius, had celebrated his twenty-fourth birthday yesterday, a whole decade older than Julia, and she was cleaning up the left over mess from yesterday.  Manius was a somewhat cold man, and Julia felt distant from him even as his wife. He rarely showed emotions, at least never to Julia, and although she was use to this type of personality because it was similar to how her father acted, she longed for a more intimate and fulfilling relationship.
When Julia had finished her daily chores and errands, and Manius was still in town working, she liked to visit her sister Tullia. Tullia was a busy woman. She had three children, two boys and a girl, all under the age of ten. Julia envied her sister’s life. Tullia’s husband, Appius, was a kind man. He was warm and loving, which were uncommon traits for most men. Tullia’s house was joyful and full of life, a common reason for why Julia loved to visit her so often. Tullia was two years older than her. She was smart and motherly, and Julia and Tullia had always had a tight bond, much closer than her husband’s relationship to his sibling.
Manius’s brother, Marcus, lived down the hill from them. He was very different than his brother, friendly and well liked throughout town. Although he did not have the same authoritative power as Manius, who was a top commander in the army and had much political influence, he loved his job working as a teacher. He was a recent widow, his wife had passed away unexpectedly, leaving him somewhat lost and questioning his life. Clodia’s death was constantly haunting him, and not knowing why or how she died so suddenly caused him much grief. Her passing before giving birth to children had upset his only living parent Tulliola. His mother, Tulliola, desperately wanted children and was worried she would not live to see either of her sons have children.
