The familia in ancient rome was a marker of power, stability, and financial interest. For the women of Rome a wedding symbolized not a only a new union but the ability to merge families and create powerful connections. Julia , Ceasar daughter ,was no exception to this and with the arrival of June she would soon be wed. As the morning sun rose so did Julia,  she quickly called over her slave in order to start preparations for the upcoming day . Today, accompanied by her most trustworthy slave, she would venture into the forum. Fully dressed in her stola Julia's mind began to wander, her marriage was approaching, and feelings of anticipation and fear all grew inside her . In the midst of her thoughts, she was awaken by the call of her slave winch now presented her  with an array of breakfast delicacies. Like always her breakfast consisted of the fresh fish , fruits, vegetables , and bread. Her fingers were quick to grasp the presented food yet due to her current state of mind she ate little and soon walked away . Once again thoughts of Pompey , her future husband, flooded her mind unwilling to displease her father she spoke little about her hesitation to the marriage . Instead she walked outside and began her  journey to  the forum . As she walked alongside her slave she could not help but think what this marriage entailed. Pompey was political and military leader, indeed a man of great stature and class. Their marriage would signify a strong political alliance . In fact, Julia had overheard conversation that implied that this marriage would single handily solidify her father Ceasar empire. Bombarded with the noise of the forum she return to her present activities. The marketplace was flooded with trade , talk, and an enormous amount of people today more than usual . Due to her persisting feelings of weariness she asked her slave to purchase an offering and together they would go to the temple of vesta. As she arrived to the circular entrance of the Vesta temple she hoped her offering with bring her a loving marriage not only a powerful one. As a young beautiful women she had long dreamt of a love filled marriage. Julia starred into the burning fire of Vesta the flames alleviated her worries and through this ritual she was able to return home and continue with her marriage.
