Antonious Maximus stood taller than the average Roman. His tunic, for a larger man, fit surprisingly well, it highlighted his muscular build. His hair was light brown and was wavy but did not seem to interfere. It appeared to be thinning out over the years. He wore soleae 's that appeared too large, most likely they were pulled off of a fallen foe. His face was rigid and squared and showed signs of the combat that surely kept him awake at night. Above his right eye was a scar that began half way up his forward and ran down to below is eyebrow, indicating were an attacker had caught him just below the helmet. His nose was crooked and looked as if it had been broken more than once. His hands were large and strong, a formality for a soldier with as much experience in combat as Maximus. He wore an iron ring that was engraved with "AM."
Marcus Afranius, a short man, stood only a small horses leg high, but was strong as an ox. He had been alongside Antonious in the wars against the Gulls, and more recently, in the civil war against Pompey. He was in Egypt when Antonious became ill, and the two served together as legionaries in the battle of Battle of Dyrrhachium. They were close, maybe too close. Marcus had dark hair that was shaved, which he purposely did to remind those near him of the wounds he suffered in Dyrrhachium. A scar ran from the top of Marcus's head to the bottom of his left ear. The victim of a Gull's sword, Marcus was luckily to live to see another day. Marcus wore a pair of caligae that added a much needed inch. He was not as physically built as Maximus, but was just as strong, if not stronger. He poked out a little in the belly, and had a chin that could be mistaken for two. He was a fierce man though, and the fire in his eyes let everyone know that.
